Placing an Ad FAQ
Do I need to register to advertise?
Anyone wishing to leave an advert or use the facilities (anywhere on the site) must register. You do not need to register just to browse the site. It is easy to register for an account. We only need a few details, an email and password.
What do I get if I register?
1) You get your own account and can add, update and remove your own adverts, as well as the option of joining our mailing list.
2) You can use all other facilities on the site
How do I know when I’m registered?
Do you have a USER LOGIN and PASSWORD for VansandTrucks.co.uk (This would have been emailed to you)? If not, you need register for a user account. It is free and easy to register using the step by step registration process.
Once you have registered once, remember your username and password and there will be no need for you to register again in the future.
Are all adverts free?
All ads are free unless you want to add options to make your ad stand out where the price ranges from £1 to £3.
How can I make my ad stand out?
There are options on Vans and Trucks to make your ad stand out at an extra cost starting at £1. Our options make you stand out from other advertisers on the search results page where the customer will find your ad. This section can be found on the options page when placing an ad.
You can choose one, or mix and match them.
1. Top Ad – With the top ad options your ad will always stay at the top of the first page of results. Customers often read adverts at the top of the page so this means added exposure.
2. Highlighted ad - Add a background to your text to stand out
3. Blinking ad – Blinking ads really grab the buyers attention. The flashing icon will say “top van” which gives the buyer the idea of a deal.
Can I add photos for free?
Yes! You can add photos online for free and we advise you do so. Adding a photo of the vehicle you are selling makes a lot of difference to how many calls you'll get. It is much easier to show what you are selling through photos than through words. You will get an 8 times better response with photos.
Can I edit my advert?
You can make changes when you renew your ads. You can do this by going you’re your account and clicking on the ad you wish to renew. A link will appear asking if you want to renew and then you can edit your free ad however you like.
Can I delete my advert?
Yes, just go into your account and click delete on the advert you wish to remove.
Where will my advert appear?
Your advert will appear in the make and model section which you choose when you place an advert.
When can I place an ad?
Place An Ad is open 24/7 as it’s an online service.
I can’t find my ads, what’s happened?
It is possible your ad is not yet live on the site. There will be a short delay between submitting the ad, and it appearing live online. At our busiest times this could take a few hours.
Your ad may have expired – if you posted your ad a while ago, it is possible that the ad has expired from the site. It is free for private advertisers so you can always re-place your ad.

My ad has been deleted, why?
Your ad may have been reported to us or been identified as ‘inappropriate’. When this happens your ad will be temporarily suspended (this depends on a few things) until we look at it. We will check all reported ads as quickly as we can. Providing we don’t find any violations of the terms or conditions, your ad should go live again shortly.
Your ad may have been removed from the site for violating the Terms and Conditions. In most cases we will email you to inform you when we have removed your ad. NB - these emails sometimes get directed to junk folders.
How long does it take to place an ad?
Placing an ad on Vans and Trucks is extremely simple and only takes mintutes even if you’re not web savvy!
How many words can I have in my ad?
You can have as many words as you like with your online ad so you should be able to say everything you need.
How many people will see my ad?
We have approximately 10,000 visitors per month which is continuously growing. This gives you great exposure and a great opportunity to sell your van or truck without having to pay out for huge advertising costs.
How long will it be until my ad appears online?
It often takes up to 10 minutes for your ad to appear on the website. However on certain days (Monday especially) it might take a bit longer because of the high volume of ads received on that day, which all have to be checked first.
Can I repeat my ad to without going through the whole process again?
Yes! You can do this by going you’re your account and clicking on the ad you wish to renew. A link will appear asking if you want to renew and then you can either just renew or edit your advert.
How long does my advert last for?
Your advert will be on the advert for two weeks and then you can renew for free.
How does the privacy number work?
We redirect calls to a privacy number so buyers do not know your real phone number. We feel that this is necessary for safety and also avoids calls after your ad has expired.
How do I pay for the optional extras?
We accept all major debit and credit cards.
Do I have to pay upfront?
Yes, all ads booked online are prepaid. We can’t offer direct debit payments at the moment but we are working on it!
How secure is the site?
If you really want to get technical ... we use 128 bit encryption in the areas of our websites where you enter personal information. What does that mean? If you see the padlock icon in the bottom right of your browser these pages are secure are your details are safe.
